Event Overview

March 5th & 6th: 6PM-9PM

Capturing your source well during the recording process is only half the battle in audio production. The mixing is a huge part of the audio production that must be a priority. In this class we are going to teach you three important aspects to achieving great mixes.

1. The Mixing Room Setup

2. The Editing Process

3. The Mixing Process

1. The Mixing Room Setup

During the "Mixing Room Setup" training you will learn the proper ways (where, what type, and how much) to apply acoustic treatment in your mixing room, know how to calculate the best mix position in your room, learn how to properly calibrate your speakers, as well as know how to set the crossover points on your studio monitors.

2. The Editing Process

The editing process is just as important as mixing. The editing process preps tracks for mixing. Failure to edit first will result in the mixing process taking much longer than it should, and cause the whole process to take longer. During the "Editing Process" training you will learn how to label and organize tracks, comp, clean up tracks, apply noise reduction, phase and time align, apply and adjust quantizing, and pitch center using melodyne.

3. The Mixing Process

The mixing process is very detailed and involves a lot of elements to get professional quality results. During the "Mixing Process" training you will learn how to mix levels and write automation, understand EQ and the various types (mono, stereo, mid-side, side-chain, parametric, graphic,), understand compression and the various types (mono, stereo, multi-band, side-chain,), understand limiters and the various types (mono, stereo, multi-band,), understand the various types of reverbs (halls, plates, chambers, etc.), understand the use of delays, as well as understand saturation and other effects.
