Event Overview
1) PODCAST RECORDING
Recording your podcast correctly is one of the most important aspects to the production of your podcast. You will learn how the room you record in affects your podcast quality, how to choose the best microphone in your budget, how to use pop filters, an understanding of microphone placement, as well as an understanding of audio interfaces, recording software, and setting recording input levels properly.
2) PODCAST EDITING
After you have your podcast recorded, the next step is the audio editing process. We will show you how to use audio recording software (protools), understand how to clean up audio files, insert audio fades, and reduce floor noise or background noise.
3) PODCAST MIXING
Podcast mixing is extremely important to ensure that your podcast has a consistent dynamic volume, all the mics are an even volume, and that your listeners' ears are not fatigued after 45 minutes of listening. We will walk you through how to use compression to keep each of your microphone levels consistent throughout the entire podcast, how to use EQ to ensure that each mic has a warm yet clear tone for a pleasing listening experience, and how to write automation to fine tune adjusting any microphone levels throughout the podcast.
3) PODCAST MASTERING
Podcast mastering is also an important element to the podcast production process. Podcasts do not need a lot of mastering, but a simple amount will make a huge difference. In regards to podcasts, mastering is simply bringing up the overall level of your podcasts (so that listeners do not have to crank their car stereo all the way up to listen to your podcasts, and your podcast is as loud as standard pro-grade podcasts released today), and also adjusting the overall EQ and compression (if needed) of your podcast as a whole.
4) PODCAST EQUIPMENT
Another extremely important aspect to producing a great podcast is choosing the right equipment. We will provide you with lists of suggested equipment packages by Rock Solid Studio based on different budgets. These packages will include everything you need to start producing a podcast yourself. Everything from the microphones, stands, audio interface and even software.
